R.L. McGregor Herbarium Description: Manage operation of the McGregor Herbarium; coordinate Kansas Biological Survey’s Natural Heritage Inventory Academic background: Ph.D. and M.S. Kansas State University; B.A. Wartburg College Research interests: My research in the McGregor Herbarium and Kansas Biological Survey documents the diversity and distribution of plants in the grasslands of central North America, seeks explanations for those patterns, and examines related conservation issues. In parallel, I do descriptive, collection- and specimen-based taxonomic research that derives in part from my floristic and ecological studies, and I build and maintain legacy databases used to study biodiversity. I am active in the Flora of North America project, currently serving on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and as Co-Lead Editor of Volume 17 with Dr. Richard K. Rabeler of the University of Michigan. I also serve on boards of the Kansas Nature Conservancy, Grassland Heritage Foundation, Dyck Arboretum of the Plains, and Kansas Native Plant Society.
